How the Russian lip technique differs from standard lip filler
Standard lip filler is usually placed horizontally through the body of the lip, which adds forward projection and fullness. The Russian technique builds the lip upward instead of outward using multiple small vertical injections, then blends the columns so the surface stays smooth.
- More height and eversion — the lip rolls out rather than pushing forward
- A defined, lifted cupid's bow and sharper vermilion border
- A flatter side profile, which many clients prefer in photos
- More injection points, so expect slightly more swelling at first
What your appointment looks like
You arrive makeup-free, we photograph and map your lips, then talk through the shape you want and what your anatomy can realistically hold in one session. Numbing cream goes on for roughly 20 minutes. Injecting takes 20–30 minutes, and we sit you up between passes so you can see the shape develop.

Swelling, healing and the two-week mark
Lips swell. Days one and two are the most dramatic, days three to five settle quickly, and the final shape is usually readable at two weeks. Light bruising at injection points is normal. Book at least two weeks before an event — never the week of.
Building volume across sessions
Lips that have never had filler, or lips with thin tissue, often look best built over two appointments rather than overfilled in one. We would rather send you home slightly under-filled and add at your follow-up than chase a shape your tissue cannot support.
